They are major buildings, dating back to 1800 a. C. and built up to the sixth century BC, to thousands present in Sardinia, created through the work of indigenous peoples of Mediterranean race preindeuropea, called by the classical writers and Iole Balari. The Nuraghe is named differently in different parts of Sardinia, so we nuràke, Nuraxi, nuràcci, nuraghi naràcu and others. This term, especially since the nineteenth century, was correlated with the root Phoenician 'Nur', which has the meaning of fire, meaning fire as a dwelling, or temple of fire, with explicit reference to solar cults, which would be charged on the terraces nuragiche towers. Today philologists are more inclined to see in the word nuragheses source paleo Mediterranean, with its variants 'Normal', 'nul', 'Rent' extremely common in the Mediterranean reality, with the dual meaning of cows or cavities. The word is not concerned with the destination, but the special form of construction of the dolmen, be construed so as Cable lot, building or tower quarry quarry. The nuragheses are widely cited by classic authors. Daidàleia appoint them, that well designed buildings like the Aegean, or tholoi, for their false dome shape. According to tradition would have been the work of Daedalus richiamatoin Sardinia classic mythologized heroes, Iolaus and A risteo. It recognizes the greek nationalism, which through the products of the Greek win on sheer barbarism of the natives. Nuragheses are appointed by the Romans as "castrating," that is fortified castles, or caverns, spontaneous erections, which offered shelter residents in areas of the central 'island against attacks Romans, areas known to the Romans with the name of Barbara current Barbagie. Interestingly, in the classical sources such facilities are never called with the native name. I have about seven nuragheses we maintain today, but in the past and would certainly be higher for home number, according to some estimates had to be present in the Sardinian territory about twenty thousand towers nuragiche. The nuragheses oldest were found in the south of Sardinia, in accepting the theory of external impulses, but most of them are in central areas, where the builders of megalithic structures had to move. It 'important to remember that were built all at the same time, and that their function was to be purely military. It could mark the boundary from one region to another, as happens on Clare in the large basalt plateaus, or could be the defensive core of a tribe, as it probably was in the Abbasanta Barùmini and Losa. It is not unlikely that those with a simple structure has been a refuge for pastors, unlike those with complex structures, but never were, structures tomb. This task is accomplished fully by two other types of structures additional to nuragheses, the Domus de Janas and the graves of giants. There is no reason to suppose therefore that nuragheses should replace or supplement the function of these structures. There are two types of nuragheses, the first form is that in Tholos, a circular chamber that is, covered by a false dome, to put the buildings in which they mention the Greeks. The second form is a corridor, where the compartment is constructed from a relatively narrow corridor along as a cover plate, which traverse all or part of the length and width of the body construction, which may be rectangular or elliptical, not circular as in nuragheses tholos. This kind of structures, appearance caves, could adapt to the kind of spontaneous erections or caverns sources cited by the ancient Romans. Normally looking south, south-east, with his back to the strong mistral, and handing her face to the sun. They can reach twenty feet in height, and the walls have a thickness ranging between four and five meters and a diameter ranging from thirty to fifty yards at the base; decreased SCE then conl'aumentare height, forming a truncated cone whose slope is more pronounced in the oldest towers. The special shape is due to the construction technique, which provided solid foundations with large blocks of stones and stacked dry in a circular manner, without use of binders and held together by their own weight. As we proceed in height, the lines narrow progressively and also decreases the proportion of boulders and rocks are becoming smaller and better products. The upper part was occupied by a terrace with parapet, which is accessed via a spiral staircase, lighted by loopholes in the ascending path drawn in thick walls. The Sardinian tradition remains strongly respectful of these imposing structures. It was not uncommon until a few generations ago, the world Barbaricino, alliances or sealing a blood oath, in the shadow of a dolmen. And any agreement enshrined in these conditions have a strong religious sentiment. This agreement should not be broken.

These collective tombs, which have no equal in Europe, consist essentially of a burial chamber from 5 to 15 meters long and 1 to 2 meters high. The front of the structure is enclosed by un'esadra as if to symbolize the horns of a bull, or a half moon and the oldest tombs in the center of the semicircle is a stele placed up to 4 meters high, beautifully carved and equipped with a small opening at the base which, one assumes, was closed by a rock, and through which people could get to the grave. Close to the entry had been erected an obelisk (called the Sardinian Betile) that symbolized the spirit of the ancestor probably watching over the dead. Were located away from villages, and could accommodate a large number of dead. It is assumed among the one hundred and two hundred. So where the ossuaries were deposited the remains of the dead once they had become skeletons. Were most likely fleshless before burial

(have found traces of this practice on the bones), and were buried when they reach a significant number.

Present in quantities ecclatante ground Sardinia, today we can count a number of 321 tombs discovered, while imagining that many are still undiscovered. Of particular interest are those Capichera in Arzachena, Li and Lolghi Coddu Vecchju, but certainly those of Madau ache near Fonni.
